Dr. Balwant Singh Hunjan (Gold Medalist) is a renowned orthopedic surgeon of Ludhiana. He is a pioneer to have orthoscanner and arthroscope in the District for the benefits of the patient.

     He is one of those very few Ortho-Surgeons, who have been trained at such prestigious hospitals like Hull Royal Hospital in UK, Castle Hill Hospital, Hull, UK,(1996) Liverpool Hospital in Sydney (1998) AO Fellow University Hospital Zurich(1999) and Putnam Hospital New York(2002). He has provided the best facility to patients at Hunjan Bone and Joint Hospital Ludhiana.

     Dr. Balwant Singh Hunjan was born to Smt. Hardial Kaur Birdi at village Sunet Ludhiana on 2nd October, 1957. His father Sardar Jagir Singh Hunjan manufactured power presses by the name of 'Fine Mechanical Works' and was popular as Sardar Jagir Singh fine. Dr Balwant Singh Hunjan did his higher secondary from Vishwakarma Senior Secondary School Ludhiana in 1974. He completed his MBBS from Rajindra Medical College Patiala in 1980, and MS(Ortho) from the same institute in 1984. He is still upgrading his knowledge and skill while getting training from the best ortho hospital of the world.

     After completing his MS he joined Guru Teg Bhadur Hospital Ludhiana. He gives credit of his success to Dr. Darshan Singh MS(the then Medical Superinten-dent of GTB Hospital) From him he learnt a lot about how to handle emergencies, how to deal the patient, satisfy patients and many more things. He had served at Mohan Dai Oswal Cancer Hospital and Research Centre. He has also served the country as a government servant. Ultimatly, in 1992 he established Hunjan Bone and Joint Hospital in South Model Gram Ludhiana. This is the only private hospital in the city equipped with several latest ultra modern and state of art machinery and equipments. He is the Ramgarhia of whom we are proud.

     He got married to Smt. Satinder Kaur Panesar of Bathinda on 21st October, 1985. She is daughter of Sardar Tara Singh. She did her matriculation from Government Higher Secondary School Bathinda in 1977. Then she did her B.Sc form Government Rajindra College in 1981. Then she did M.Sc. (Zoology) from Punjabi university, Patiala. She received many awards in cultural activities espacially Giddha in her student life. Presently Mrs. Hunjan is very keen at taking part in cultural activities.

     She is an active member of Ramgarhia Ladies Club. She also holds a B.Ed. degree which she uses in the intellectual development of her children. The couple is blessed with two lovely children, daughter Jasveen Kaur and son Jaiveer Singh.
