The couple Sardar
Sewa Singh Kharey and Smt. Harjinder Kaur is renown for
Sunny Sewing School which is in the remote area of
Ludhiana where people of middle and lower class reside.
WHEN THERE was no proper roads and any transport
available, at that time they established a school for
the poor and needy girls interested to learn and help
their family. It is a light of hope for those girls.

The School is providing Stitching, Carving, Painting,
Cookery, Embroidery and many other courses which are
helpful for a girl to make her an intelligent wife after
marriage. Sardar Sewa Singh Kharey was born to Smt.
Gurdial Kaur Palana wife of Sardar Jawala Singh at
village Rattan Paloo near Khanna District, Ludhiana.
After completing his Higher Secondary from Higher
Secondary School Khanna, District Ludhiana, he joined A.
S. College Khanna for higher studies. |

Now he is working as Supervisor at Rockman Cycle
Industries. He got married to Smt. Harjinder Kaur
Ranoata on 6th April,1979. She was born to Smt. Mukhtiar
Kaur on 22th May,1957. She lost her father Sardar
Gurbachan Singh on 4th October, 1966. Sardar Malkiat
Singh, Principal Dashmesh Senior Secondary School,
helped her a lot in her studies. With his blessings she
completed her Matriculation in 1974. |

She worked with her mother day and night to earn their
living. Then she did Diploma in stitching and embroidery
from Sethi Sewing School. In 1985 she establish Sunny
Sewing School with the motivation of her husband. |

Approximately 3000 to 3500 girls have been trained by
her. Some of the trained girls have opened their own
sewing schools in other states of India. Miss Saroj have
opened her own Sewing school in Himachal Pradesh, Miss
Gurdeep Kaur have opened her own School in Utter
Pradesh. The school organizes exhibitions to display the
work of their students every year at Sunny Sewing
School, Mohalla Nanaksar, Shimla Puri, Ludhiana. Many
councillors and prominent personalities of Ludhiana have
visited the school. The couple is blessed with a
daughter and a son. |

“Along with academic qualification educate girls in
the stitching, embroidery and other house hold chores”. |
