After completing his middle examination, he joined
Ramgarhia High School Amritsar where he stood 1st in the
matriculation examination in year 1951. He was favorite
among his teachers and was appreciated for his sincerity
and obedience. He got married to Smt. Gurcharan Kaur
Bhamra of Hardeenpur, Distt. Amritsar.
Due to his early marriage he had to terminate his
studies as his family circumstances didn't allow him to
spend on his studies as he has to feed his family,
although he was offered financial support by his school
Headmaster to continue his higher studies.
During this period he worked with his father as a
carpenter and became a skilled person in the operating
of Lathe, Milling, Shaper machines and a fitter. In 1956
he fabricated a Header of 3 Soot i.e. 3/8 inches at M/s
Devi Dass & Sons, this was the first header fabricated
in India. Then he received a call from M/s Rulya Ram
Aggarwal of Calcutta for the post of Foreman in 1957. He
was also offered job of Foreman by New Capital
Industries 105 Industrial Area Chandigarh in 1959, where
he became a master in Header, Thread Rolling and
Slotting Machines. His farewell was a remarkable event
of his life. In 1970 he started his own factory under
the name of his younger daughter “Davindera Industries”
with one Lathe Machine. First two year he had supplied
the full production to N.C.I Chandigarh, where he was
known for his sincerity, softness, honesty and helpful
nature.
The couple is blessed with 3 daughters and two sons
Sardar Sharandeep Singh Bhamra (An Indian Cricketer) is
also a son of his elder daughter Smt. Sukhwant Kaur
married to Sardar Manmohan Singh Bhamra at Amritsar. |
