When he came home after scoring good marks in examinations, his grandfather, Sardar Ujjager Singh, gave him ‘thappi’ (Buckup, Shabashi) which has been his main source of motivation and encouraged him to attain new heights and achieve his goals.
      This secret of success was revealed to Ramgarhiakom by Sardar Nirmaljeet Singh Kalsi who was till recently taking care of two Punjab Government Departments. He is presently Director cum Secretary- Department of Information Technology and left the charge as Director Cum Secretary-Department of Technical Education & Industrial Training, Government of Punjab after serving the department for six long years.

     Sardar Nirmaljeet Singh did his B.E. in Electrical Engineering in 1979 from University of Roorkee (presently Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee). Thereafter, he did his M.Tech. in Computer Technology in 1981 from I.I.T., New Delhi. At both places he stood first in his entire examination career. He stood 4th in All India Engineering service in Electrical Engineering Exam taken by Union Public Service commission. He got 36th rank in Civil Services Exam in 1984 and was selected into the Indian administrative Service (IAS).

     He had served the Punjab Govern-ment as SDM Anandpur Sahib, ADC Ludhiana (August 1988-May,1990) and District Magistrate, Batala (June1990-July1991). There after, he was appointed Deputy Commissioner of Sangrur (August 1992-July1994) and Deputy Commissioner Faridkot (August 1994-July1995). He has served as Additional Secretary to CM in the Congress Government and also as Special Secretary to CM in the Akali Government. He is member, life member, Chairman, President Secretary & Honorary Member of various Boards & Societies.
He is a good player of Badminton, Cricket, Lawn Tennis, Football and other Adventure sports.
In badminton he had represented India in three World Championships as team manager. He has visited USA, CANADA, UK, SCOTLAND, SWEDEN, FINLAND, JAPAN, KOREA, CHINA, HONG KONG, THAILAND, BOTSWANA AND SOUTH AFRICA.

   He designed, developed and launched a number of web sites including the official website of Punjab Government which is rated as a five star site by Encyclopedia Britannica.
He was responsible for timely and efficient execution of the World Bank Projects 1998-99 both in technical education wing and industrial training wing. The over all performance of Punjab was rated in the top 3 states of the country.

   He got married to Smt. Namrita Soundh daughter of Sardar Gurbachan Singh Saundh of Ferozpur on 5th October, 1986. Smt. Namrita Kalsi is a B.Arch. from Punjab University, Chandigarh a pass- out of 1984. Then she did Computer aided designing in 1996 & 1997. She is involved in designing of banks, showrooms, industrial complexes, factories, schools, restaurants, bungalows, commercial buildings, colonies, residential societies etc.

    She also executed the eye-catching and scaping of BMC Chowk, Jalandhar City( Punjab). She had also worked as Registrar Punjab State Board of Technical Education and Industrial Training from October 1995 to July 1996. Currently she is working with Punjab Urban Planning & Development Authority as Assistant Architect. The couple is blessed with a daughter Simran and a son Bikramjeet, The couple is strong believer of Shri Guru Granth Sahib.
