Sh. Mata Ram Munday popularly known as Mata Ram Dhiman was born on 5th May,1948 in Village Ghanaula Distrist Roop Nagar to Smt. Dropti Devi Daffoo wife of Sh. Ram Chander. His father used to do Sappy work in his parental village.

    He Did his M.A. (Punjabi) from Punjabi University Patiala. During his college life, he was the editor of college magazine “SHIVALIK”. He set up Dhiman Giani College at Roopnagar with the sole motive of providing high quality education. Then he diverted his interest towards helping the backward classes in backward areas For this he Started M.R.D. Model School at Mani Majra (Near Chandigarh) in 1970 at that needy time. The school is duly recognized by Chandigarh Education Deptartment.

     He is a very active Ramgarhia. He attended World conference at Slough, UK in 1993 and International Conference held at Delhi in 1996. Sh. Mata Ram Munday is an active politician. When he shifted to Chandigarh in 1972 he joined Ramgarhia Sabha, Chandigarh. He had served Ramgarhia Sabha four times as Gen Secretary. Ramgarhia Bhawan has been constructed with the co-operation of other member of the Sabha like Sardar Ajit Singh Ranota and Sardar Ganga Singh. With the motivation of Ex President of India, Late Giani Zail Singh, he had contested for MLA from Anandpur Sahib in 1977. Giani Zail Singh ji helped him a lot for the election in 1995 and 1999. He had contested from Chandigarh for the seat of MP under the Party banner of Bahujan Smaj Party. He is now the President of Vishavkarma Sabha Chandigarh.

    On 15th January,1975 he got married to Smt. Usha Dhanjal of Delhi. She is MA B.Ed. She is Principal of MRD School. The couple is blessed with two sons.

    Elder son Vikram Dhiman was born on 27th December,1976. He did his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Chandigarh. He is a good Photographer. Exhibition of his photographs was held at Punjab Kala Bhawan from February 27th to March 3rd 2002.
    Younger son Tarun Dhiman was born on 18th August,1977. He did his graduation and now he is doing medical transcription. Sh. Mata Ram Dhiman gives the credit of his academic success to Prof. Mohinder Singh Cheema and political success to all the members of Ramgarhia Sabha Chandigarh. In his lectures he always stresses upon the unity among Ramgarhias.
