In 1960
elder son of Sardar Sher Singh Passi imported a garden
tool and by chance it was lost after few weeks. Sardar
Sher Singh made a rough drawing of that tool. Then he
decided to develop the tool himself and succeeded.
Then he decided to manufacture that tool for the people
of India and this was the starting of “Passi Mechanical
work”. |

Sardar Sher Singh was born to Smt. Nihal Kaur Channa and
Sardar Bura Singh in 1921 at village Phoolanwal (Distt
Ludhiana). After completing his education he started to
help his father in repairing armory. Then he started to
make HATHKADI, ALMIRAH, HOSIERY machine parts under the
name of 'Pritam Mechanical Works' .After some time they
changed the name to 'Kuldeep Mechanical Works'. But they
finally chose the same old name 'Passi Mechanical Works'
in 1972. The foundation stone of this new unit was laid
by Hon. Justice R. S. Sarkaria on 2nd January,1981.

Sardar Sher Singh Passi is a very good shooter and Gatka
playar (a traditional game of Sikhs). He had been a member of
panchayat for 50 years. He opened a school and a dispensary at
village Phoolanwal. The credit of providing a new look to the
village Gurudwara also goes to his account. He has protected
the public property also. He got married to Smt. Mohinder Kaur
Ubhi of Village Kherra near Ahmedgarh, Distt Ludhiana in 1942.
The couple is blessed with 4 sons and 4 daughters. |

Elder son Sardar Sarbag Singh was born on 4th September,1945
at village Phoolanwal. He did his graduation from GGN Khalsa
College Ludhiana in 1969. After completing his studies he
engaged himself in the manufacturing of horticultural
implements such as garden tools and became one of the pioneers
in the field of garden- tools manufacturing. |

He has distinction of receiving many national and local awards
including Bharat Udyog Ratna Award (2002) from Indian
Economics Development and Research Association, Rashtriya Ekta
Award (1997) from International Integration & Growth Society.
He has participated in exhibition of garden tool held in India
and abroad. He is very social. He is member of many sabhas and
societies. With his efforts Passi Nagar at Pakhowal road is
developing into a very good locality. He got married in
Panesar family of Lalton Kalan and is blessed with 5
daughters. |

2nd Son Sardar Surmukh Singh was born on 20th April,1948. He
did his studies at Phoolanwal. He got married to Smt. Davinder
Kaur Padhley of Village Naularhi Near Khanna Distt Ludhiana.
The couple is blessed with a son and a daughter. Presently he
is helping his brothers in manufacturing garden tools. |

Youngest son Sardar Kuldeep Singh was born on 12th April,1954
at village Phooalnwal. He did his schooling at Phoolanwal. He
got married to Smt. Surinder Kaur Panesar of village Dhappe (Distt
Ludhiana). He is also helping his brothers in manufacturing
garden tools the couple is blessed with a son and a daughter.
Family has conveyed the message to Ramgarhiakom that
"their must be unity among Ramgarhias". |
