Miss Baljit Kaur daughter of Sardar Malkiat Singh Bhangray was born to Smt. Shinder Kaur Bhamra on September 5, 1981 in a small village of District Moga, Takhanwad. Now the village is known to hockey players because she writes herself as Baljit Takhanwad.

     Her father, who is known as Billu Mistery was a very good tractor mechanic. People of near by village came to him problems of tractors solved. But due to circumstances he had to shift at village Kundali (Madhya Pardesh) where he is working with his younger son.

     She was studying in her sixth standard when she started playing for her school. Her family members were not in favour that girls should play hockey. But she continued to play. She hide her hockey in school premises so that her parents do'not come to know about her love with hockey. Her hard work bore fruit and she played inter school then inter university level. Her love for hockey was so strong that once even after getting hurt while playing at Patiala in 1997 she continued playing the match . This shows her true Sportsman spirit. Her happiest moment was when she scored hat trick in a village tournament.
