It is an honour to the Ramgarhiakom that due to sincere
efforts and hard work of Sardar Harcharanjit Singh
(known as CHANNI of Alaap Group), Rupal Ramgarhia was
able to record the name of his Band “Alaap” in Guinness
Book of World Records as "Most successful Band Ever”. |

S. Harbaksh Singh Rupal was born to Smt. Dhram Kaur Birdi
on 29th September, 1927. His father Sardar Kartar Singh
has served army. He did his schooling from Peshawar
(Pakistan). After completing his education he joined the
Indian Army. After taking voluntarily retirement he
joined Punjab Armed Police. He retired as Assistant
Commandant (D.S.P) from Nagaland. He got married to Smt.
Baldev Kaur Channa of Village Salar (Distt. Sangrur) on
6th December, 1946. The couple is blessed with two sons
and
one daughter. |

His elder son Sardar Paramjit Singh is an Advocate. He was
born on 4th September,1949 at Jabalpur (Madhya Pardesh). He
completed his schooling and graduation from Malerkotla. He is
doing his practice at Ludhiana handling cases dealing in
Income Tax/Sale tax. He is Vice President of "District
Taxation Bar association (Sale Tax)". He is also General
Secretary of "Bhai Laloo Sewa Asharam (Regd.) International".
He got married to Smt. Rajinder Kaur Ajimal of Patiala. The
couple is blessed with three sons. |

The younger son Sardar Harcharanjit Singh (CHANNI), World
famous singer was born on 12th January, 1952. He completed his
M.A. (English) from DAV College Jalandhar in 1974. He proved
his talent as a wrestler, singer and folk dancer while
studying in Patiala University and Guru Nanak Dev University.
In 1976, he went to UK. Alaap started in 1977, performing in
temples and at small functions. They didn't knew that soon
they were about to take the world of Bhangra music by storm.
After several years of pioneering the Bhangra music scene,
Alaap is still regarded as "The hottest and most successful
Bhangra band in the history of the world".
Alaap have been accorded International Recognition by
Guinness Book of World Records who listed them as having the
"Most Recordings by a Bhangra Band". His group Alaap has been
awarded many awards from the Music Industries. |

Like “Best Asian Band"," Best Male Vocalist"," Best Live
Performance from 1980-1995”. He had given to the music
industries “Best Album", "Best Hit Song-Chham Chham Nachdi
Phiran". Some of his other achievements are:
-'Most successful band ever'- Guinness Book of World
Records.
-A Triple Gold Disc for the albums 'Teri Chunni de
Sitare',' Dance with Alaap' and 'Nach
Kuriye'.
-Platinum Disc for the album 'Chham Chham Nachdi Phiran'.
-Platinum Disc for the super hit hindi film 'Yalgaar'

He got married to Smt. Dhanwant Kaur Ubhi of Bhutta (Ludhiana).
The family is devotee of Baba Jaswant Singh of Gurudwara
Nanaksar, Chowk Samrala-Ludhiana.
The Family had given
his Message to Ramgarhia community that
"educate our childern".
